Died Monday morning March 5, 2018 at his residence. Jack was born January 6, 1923 in Three Rivers, Michigan a son of Jesse and Dorthea (Kurth) Griner. During WWII, he served honorably with the U.S. Air Force. He had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with General Motors for 20 years before retiring in 1986. Jack also was employed with KVP Paper Company years ago. He was naturally artistic and creative. Jack was good at drawing, woodworking and many arts and crafts. He also enjoyed his cabin up north and spent much time bow and gun hunting. Jack was a fan of western novels and read volumes. Dorothy and Jack spent many winters in Ocala, Florida after retirement. Jack will be loved and missed by his entire family. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 3 brothers, Roy, Harry, and Clarence. On January 31, 1947, he was united in marriage to Dorothy L. (Davidson) Griner who survives. Also surviving, 5 children, Sandra (Joseph) Hnilo of Kalamazoo, Judy (Phillip) Foster of Portage, David Griner of Climax, Nancy (Jerry) Veld of Kalamazoo, and Thomas (Kara) Griner of Las Vegas, NV; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 12 noon Thursday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Private entombment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest mausoleum. Memorials may be directed to Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes.
