Jack F. McIntyre

Jack McIntyre passed away on May 10. He was 68. A veteran of the Michigan National Guard Reserves, Jack had a high level of respect and regard for those in uniform who served and sacrificed in defense of our country. A skilled craftsman in many things mechanical, electrical, woodworking and plumbing, he wasn't satisfied until he knew how something worked, and how to fix it when it broke. A favorite pastime was taking things apart to understand them, and then putting them back together again. A true do-it-yourselfer, he lived for forty-five years in a house that he built with his own ideas, muscles and sweat. He also enjoyed flying his radio-controlled helicopters, target shooting, photography, bird watching, and chasing away (through any means necessary) the squirrels, raccoons and other varmints that accosted his bird feeders. Jack built a successful career at Portage Automotive Supply before moving to Greenmark Equipment, first in Centreville and then in Three Rivers, from where he retired last year. He knew right from wrong, the value of a hard day's work, and how to treat people with respect- values that he passed on to his sons. Proceeded in death by his father Jack and his mother Dorothea, Jack is survived by: his loving wife Nancy; son Troy and partner Hydrick; son Jason and daughter-in-law Jennifer and their three boys- Jack's grandsons Ryland, Hudson & Beckham; his sister Karen & brother-in-law John; his brother Bill and sister-in-law Marilyn; and several beloved friends, nieces and nephews. The family will hold a private ceremony, followed by a larger celebration of Jack's life for his friends and family this summer. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jack's name can be made to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
