Ivan R. Hudson

Hudson, Ivan R. Richland, Michigan Ivan Ronald Hudson, age 86 of Richland, Michigan, died at home on October 17, 2022. He was born on April 13, 1936, in Weyauwega, Wisconsin, the son of Ivan Paul and Harriet (VanDerHeyden) Hudson. The family moved to Battle Creek, Michigan, when Ivan was 3 years old. He attended the St. Phillip's Catholic Church, where he received his first communion and confession. The family settled on a farm on Fine Lake in Hickory Corners, Michigan. Ivan attended Kings School through the 8th grade and then graduated from Kellogg Community Agricultural School in 1955. He was the first in his family to graduate from high school. He served in the U.S. National Guard for 8 years. For 10 years, he worked at Brundage before beginning his work career at General Motors. He retired as a crane operator from G.M. Ivan loved antiques and owned an antique store in Hickory Corners for several years. He was often found at estate sales, garage sales, and down in Shipshewana. He was avid gardener and loved farming his 3 acres in Richland, Michigan. Faith has been important to Ivan. On an Easter Sunday, at the age of 80, he was confirmed Catholic. He loved and cherished time with his family. Always striving to be the best role model, Ivan was quick to do anything for friends and family and never expected anything in return. His family includes his children: Ivan David (Jennifer) Hudson, Kathy Hudson, Douglas (Kelly) Hudson, and Tammy Skinner; his grandchildren: Selena, Michael, Ivan John, Dustyn, Dylan, Derrick, Kevin, Jessica, and Jaden; several great-grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Friday, October 21st at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Location, 622 S. Burdick Street, Kalamazoo. A funeral service to celebrate Ivan's life will follow at 2:00 PM. Graveside services will follow in Richland, Michigan, at Prairie Home Cemetery.
