Irving “Irv” Kahn

86, of Bayside. Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Nov. 2, 2013.Irv is survived by his loving wife, Joyce; devoted daughters: Becky Kahn, Terri Kahn, Jackie (Harry) Zigan; son, Gary (Amy) Abramson; and son-in-law Bruce Abramson-Andrews. Adored Papa of Jamie (Jake) Adams, Matthew Zigan, and Noah Abramson. Proud great-grandfather of Sammi and Parker Adams. Predeceased by brother, Jerry Kahn and daughter, Cindi Abramson-Andrews. Further survived by sister, Phyllis (Jerry) Briskin, sister-in-law, Minnie Kahn, and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, other close family and friends.

Irv, a long-time member of Temple Menorah, proudly served in the US Army during WWII and was a long-time member and commander of the Jewish War Veterans. A 35-year retiree of Milwaukee Public Schools, Irv spent much of his career as department head of the driver education department at Bayview High School. He was very proud of his involvement in creating the Motorcycle Safe Rider’s program still in use today. The family wishes to thank Irv’s caregivers for their gentle kindness and compassion.
