TRAVERSE CITY — Ida Oberschulte passed away Jan. 15, 2015 at The Grand Traverse Pavilions in Traverse City.

Ida was born Aug. 30, 1916 in Detroit, the daughter of George and Helena Evans.

In August 1938, she married Richard Oberschulte. In 1940, she and her husband moved to Franklin Village, Michigan where they were very active in community, church and social events. This is where they raised their two sons. After 1955, the family spent every summer in Glen Arbor on Sleeping Bear Bay. Upon retirement the couple moved to Glen Arbor and later to Leland and Traverse City.

She was always quick to find and point out beautiful details in everyday observations. A love of animals and nature motivated her constant vigilance for protection of our environment. She was a loving mother and grandmother with many friends and thoughtful relatives.

Ida is survived by her two sons, Marc (Diana) Oberschulte of Empire and Daniel Oberschulte of Traverse City; granddaughter, Ann (Emerson) Hilton and great-granddaughters, Louise and Alice Hilton of Empire.

In addition to her husband, Ida was preceded in death by her brothers, Lewis (Bernie) Evans and Leonard (Bette) Evans.

The family is grateful to the Grand Traverse Pavilions for the wonderful care they gave to Ida.

Private burial will be at The Maple Grove Cemetery in Empire in the spring. Memorials may be directed to The Grand Traverse Pavilions, Scholarship Fund or The Cherryland Humane Society. Please visit www.lifestorytc.com to sign the guest book and share a message or memory with her family. The family chose Life Story Funeral Home, Traverse City.
