Ida Marie Walker Dawson, age 56, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, May 23, 2016 at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. She was born September 5, 1959, in Racine, Wisconsin to the late Marshall and Margaret Walker.

Marie attended Washington Park High School and graduated with the “Class of 1977”. Furthering her education, she attended Gateway Technical College and received a degree in Administrative Assistance. Marie was employed with Prudential Insurance until their time of downsizing. She then became an active employee of InSinkErator until her passing. Marie joined Greater St. Luke’s Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend E.E. Woods. On November 24, 1993, she was united in marriage to Austin Dawson and to that union two children were born, Aimeen and Aviann Dawson.

Marie leaves to cherish her husband, Austin; two sons, Aimeen and Aviann; a sister, Pam Walker; 3 brothers, Dennis Walker, Robert Walker, and Billy Morris; aunts, Ruth Lombard and Mary Jackson; uncles, Tiree Dire, Dock Dire Jr., Anthony (Lettie) Dire; mother-in-law, Avalone Dawson; sisters-in-law, Lenora Lambright, Jessie (Henry) Riddle; goddaughter, Chanel Scales; and a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her brother, Roger Walker.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held at Greater St. Luke’s Baptist Church,1326 State St., Saturday, May 28, 2016, 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Joseph A. Pipes officiating. Visitation will precede the service from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M.
