Howard Wilcox, age 80, of Kalamazoo, MI passed on to heaven with his family by his side on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at White Oaks Memory Care. Howard, born at home in Kalamazoo, MI, was the son of Guy Wilcox and Arlene (Crowell) Wilcox. He attended Portage schools. Howard started as a janitor at The Upjohn Company in 1956, worked in Central Stores and became the Manager. He then worked as a Manager of Grounds, Transportation and Corporate Receiving and helped set up Central Stores in Puerto Rico. Howard retired at the young age of 55 in 1992. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling with his wife, golfing, bowling, going to sporting events, band concerts and dance recitals for his grandchildren, and working in the yard and around the horse farm. Howard loved being involved in his church as an elder and visiting his church family and sharing Christ' love to others. In 1958 Howard married his high school sweetheart, Dolores (Slater) Wilcox. They spent almost 60 years together traveling to all 50 states, going on cruises with friends, playing with grandchildren and enjoying Big Family Gatherings. Howard was preceded in death by his father Guy Wilcox and mother Arlene (Crowell) Wilcox; mother-in-law Zelda (Upson) Slater; sisters Virginia (Tom) Spicketts, Frances Lint, Louise (Gene) Belco, and Bernita (Dick) Dunshee. Surviving are his wife Dolores "Dody" Wilcox; brother Leonard (Pat) Wilcox; daughters Wendy Wilcox and Robin (Jerry) DeBoer; 6 grandchildren, Jerry (Michelle) DeBoer, Andrew Bryer, Joseph (Bri) DeBoer, Erin (Kenny) Burris, Jesse DeBoer and Aubrey DeBoer; 3 great grandchildren, Chloe DeBoer, Finn Burris and Addisyn DeBoer; and several nieces and nephews. The family invites you to celebrate Howard's life on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 10 am for visitation and 11 am for the funeral at Calvary Reformed Church, 7829 5th St, Mattawan, MI 49071. Lunch will follow. In Lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, www.hospiceswmi.org or Calvary Reformed Church.
