Howard "Budd" Newman, age 98, of Gobles, MI completed his journey Thursday, April 6, 2017 at home with his loving wife at his side. Budd was born June 28, 1918 in Gobles, the son of Charles and Myrtle Newman and had lived in the Gobles area his entire life. Budd honorably served his country as a member of the US Air Force serving during WWII. He owned and operated Newman's Airport as well as Newman's Welding. He had been a member of the Kalamazoo and Plainwell Pilot's Associations and was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge where he had served as Past Master of Fidelity #513 F & A M, Kalamazoo. Budd was also a member of the Bloomingdale - Hudson #221 Lodge. Surviving is his loving wife of 42 years, Carol; a nephew, John Burns of Stevensville. He was preceded in death by first wife of 34 years, Marian and a son Charles. The family will meet friends on Sunday, April 9th from 3 - 6 PM which will begin with a Masonic Service at the Gobles Chapel, D. L. Miller Funeral Home, www.dlmillerfuneralhome.com. Funeral services will take place Monday, April 10th, 10 AM at the Gobles United Methodist Church. Interment will follow with military honors in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Bloomingdale, Almena or Gobles United Methodist Churches or Wings of Hope Hospice.
