Homer Dermyer

Homer E. Dermyer, age 92, of Otsego, MI formerly of Tipton, passed away November 18, 2015. Homer was born April 5, 1923 on a farm in Cement City, the son of Ernest and Flossie (Burk) Dermyer. On April 28, 1951 he married Dona Hyde in Angola, Indiana and she preceded him in death February 15, 1993. Through his working career, he worked on the farm with his family, the Tecumseh Products and at Ford Motor Company until his retirement. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army. In 2003 Homer moved to Otsego. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, volunteering at Baraga Manor and greeting at the Otsego Church of God. Homer is survived by his daughter, Frances M. (Larry) Hill; grandchildren, Amanda G. (Jeff) Kwiatkowski and Christina R. (Israel) Saucedo and great grandchildren, Megan, Morgan, IJ, Noah, Kristofer, Jacob, Isaiah, Elijah and Josiah. In addition to his wife, Dona, he was preceded in death by his son, Mark Allen in 1991 and his parents. Funeral services will be 12:00 P. M. (noon) Monday, November 23, 2015 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Rev. Lloyd Jewett officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh with Military Honors rendered by the United States Army Honors Guard. Visitation will be 11:00 A. M., Monday one hour preceding the service at the funeral home. A memorial service will also be held 5:00 P. M. November 28, 2015 at the Otsego Church of God officiated by Rev. Stephen Burrow. Visitation will be at 4:00 P. M. preceding the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Otsego Church of God or the Wings Home in Allegan, Mi.
