Went to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday evening, June 8, 2019 at his residence. Friends may meet the family from 10:00-11:00am Saturday, July 27 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 3926 South 9th Street where a memorial service will be held at 11:00am. A light luncheon will follow services. Private interment will be in Mt. Home Cemetery in Kalamazoo. Went to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday evening, June 8, 2019 at his residence. Herman was born May 24, 1926 in Kalamazoo the son of the late Herman, Sr. and Magdalene (Smith) VanHamersveld. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Prior to his retirement, Herman was the co-owner of the family business, Van's Furniture. He was a life member of Third Christian Reformed Church where he served as Elder and Deacon, and taught Sunday School. On June 10, 1948, Herman was united in marriage to his loving wife of nearly 71 years, Angelyn (VanAppledorn) who survives. Also surviving are his children, Dr. Daniel (Lori) VanHamersveld, Mary Vlietstra, Steven (LaTanya) VanHamersveld, David (Susan) VanHamersveld, Debra (Rob) Gray; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; his brother Dale (Dorothy) VanHamersveld; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Private interment will be in Mt. Home Cemetery at a later date.
