Henry McGee, age 81, of Kalamazoo passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Rose Arbor Hospice. Henry was born on September 7, 1936 in Newark Arkansas, the son of George and Addie (Stone) McGee and has been a resident of the Kalamazoo area since the 1950’s. For more than 35 years, Henry worked as a machinist for KTS Industries until they closed their doors in 1994. He devoted the past 7 years to St. John Bosco church in Mattawan as groundskeeper where he and Imogene were parishioners. On January 5, 1957, Henry married the former Imogene Harvey in a simple ceremony, and over the years they enjoyed many unforgettable times together including playing Canasta, square dancing and an epic motorhome trip out west. Henry also liked to bowl, fish, play horse shoes, and shared his smile with everyone he met .

Members of Henry’s family include his wife of 60 years Imogene, a daughter Lisa (Bob) Stafford, two grandchildren Erin Gehrman and Melissa (Rob) Alexander, two great grandchildren Timothy and Nora, and his brother Don (Bettie) Mullins. He was preceded in death by his brothers JP , George , JC and Paul McGee, his sisters Pat Walls, Bertha Lee “Winkie” Pannell, Martha “Dutch” Wasson, and a granddaughter Anya Marie Stafford.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4-7pm at the Betzler Life Story Funeral Home, 6080 Stadium Drive; Kalamazoo (269) 375-2900 and a Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 am at St. John Bosco, 23830 Front St, Mattawan. Burial will be in the Hope Cemetery, and there will be a lunch served in the church hall following the burial.
