Henry "Hank" B. Dawson, age 78, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2015 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. He was born on January 2, 1937, the son of Lawrence R. Dawson and Elaine (Anderson) Dawson. Hank was a 1955 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School and received his bachelor degree in marketing from Western Michigan University in 1960. He served in the US Army and then began his career at NCR in sales of data processing. He later retired from the US Government after 20 years of service in Washington and the Battle Creek Federal Center. In retirement he loved to work with children as a substitute teacher. Hank is survived by his Wife of 55 years: Barbara Elaine (Birdsall) Dawson of Battle Creek, MI; Daughters: Wendy (Don Miller) Dawson of Kalamazoo, MI, Amy (Dennis) Bair of Menomonee Falls, WI and Becky (James) Taylor of Durham, NC; Son: Todd Dawson of Battle Creek, MI; eight Grandchildren; Brother: Lawrence Dawson of Mt. Pleasant, MI; and Sister: Patricia Boekeloo of Kalamazoo, MI. He was preceded in death by his Parents; his Sisters: Mary Vandermeulen and Dot Mejeur. Hank loved golfing, was an avid fan of all Michigan college and pro teams. He loved spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He was a very active member of the Birchwood United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities in the leadership of the church. He was the past president of Goodwill Industries, Battle Creek Exchange Club, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and coached little league baseball. A Memorial Service will be held at the Birchwood United Methodist Church, 3003 Gethings Road, on Saturday, April 25, 2015, 1:00 pm with Pastor Bruce Kintigh officiating.
