Helena (Lannie) Wood, 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 in Traverse City. She was born on September 13, 1937 in Buffalo, New York the daughter of Allis and Lucille (Faris) Shaya. Lannie married Paul D. Wood in Buffalo, then later moved to Kettering, Ohio where they raised their two sons Ellis and Doug. She was the co-owner of the Lebanese Deli with her mother and aunt in Dayton. Lannie and Paul treasured traveling out west on their motorcycle, visiting numerous National Parks, and enjoyed camping. Lannie was a member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church and loved to volunteer at the Catholic School while her sons attended. After the closing of the Deli, she became the Manager for the Kettering Victoria's Secret Call Center for over 13 years. Lannie loved gathering with family and friends to play cards, especially poker and gin. She had a passion and gift for cooking for all occasions and holidays, and was excellent at preparing Lebanese feasts throughout the years. After retirement, Lannie and Paul moved to the Cabin, their previous summer vacation home, in South Bloomingville, Ohio. They lived there for 7 years before moving to Traverse City in August 2014 to be closer to family. She will always be remembered for her caring personality, bright smile, and welcoming hospitality. Lannie is survived by her husband, Paul D. Wood; son, Ellis (Mary) Wood; grandchildren Evan, Caitlin, Bronson, Addison and Allison; sister, Elissa Shaya Adimey; and brother, Fred (Sharon) Shaya. She is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Douglass K. Wood; and grandson, Kyle D. Wood. Private family services are being held. Please sign the guest book and share message with her family.
