Helen Whitman

Helen Marie Whitman, age 72, passed away September 13, 2018 in Kalamazoo, MI. Helen was born August 20, 1946 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of the late Leonard and Johanna (Johnson) VandenBerg. She was a lifelong area resident and member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregation. Throughout the years she had been employed with WMU; Cadillac Uniform; and Bronson Methodist Hospital. On March 23, 1973, she was united in marriage to James B. Whitman, who preceded her in death on February 15, 2010. Surviving are two sisters Jacqueline Williams and Janet VandenBerg; niece and nephews Rebecca Lowe, Stephen Johnson, David Johnson; great niece and nephew Kathryne Lowe, Timothy Lowe; special friends Pauline and Jerry Timmer, Paula Thies, Mariana Kondon, Jack and Jan Amos, Henrietta DeVries, Jeanne VanBrugge. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM on Monday, September 17th at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. The funeral service will be at 11:00AM on Tuesday, September 18th at the Netherlands Reformed Congregation (108 Pratt Road) with Rev. Herman Hofman officiating.
