Helen Vanderveen 80, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2016, peacefully at her home.
Helen was born April 3, 1936, to John and Mary Vanderveen (Vander Sys). She graduated from Calvin College and attended U of M School of Social Work. She was a member of Calvin Christian Reformed Church. Helen had a long career in social work. She is preceded in death by her brother John Vanderveen in 2006.
She is survived by her brother David Vanderveen and three nieces, Mary (Tim) Oele, Susan (Jim) Droge, Cherry (Craig) Talsma, and four nephews, Bruce (Linda) Vanderveen, Doug (Carol) Vanderveen, Jeff (Sue) Vanderveen and Paul Vanderveen.
A memorial service to honor the faith and life of Helen will be held at 7 pm, Tuesday May 31st, 2016 at Calvin Christian Reformed Church, 700 Ethel SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Grand Rapids Christian Schools.
