Helen Joyce Sobbry, 88, of Elk Rapids, journeyed to her eternal home Monday May 5, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Escanaba, MI on June 6, 1925 to Emil and Ella Lusardi. Preceding her in death were her parents; an infant brother; and brother, Harold Lusardi; her first husband; Gordon F. Johnson; and second husband Frank H. Sobbry; a grandson Richard Kingdon and great grandson Seth Ballitch.

Surviving are her children; Robert (Sue) Johnson of Crossville, TN, Linda Kingdon of Everette, WA, Richard (Sue) Johnson, Elk Rapids, MI, Duane (Norma) Johnson, Kewadin, MI, Terry (Dale) Brink, Traverse City, MI, Ronald Sobbry, Interlochen, MI, Mary Sobbry, Traverse City, MI, Frank Sobbry, Kingsley, MI, Carol Sobbry, Kewadin, MI and Dale (Jenny) Sobbry, Rapid City, MI; 18 Grandchildren and 20 Great Grandchildren including her very special grandson, Dale Sobbry, Jr who was her comforter and who gave her peace; her sisters, Ilene Ferdon, Marinette, WI, Thelma Lowery, Fox Lake, WI, Shirley (Dick) LaPerriere, Menominee, MI, Patricia (Wayne) Rolf, Arvada, CO and Sister in law, Leah Lusardi of Gwinn, MI;

She worked at Rock High School as a secretary and after graduation worked at West Suburban Hospital and Sears Roebuck in Chicago. She moved to lower Michigan in 1954 and worked at Johnny’s Food Market and Dalhquist in Kalkaska and the A& P in Elk Rapids for 19 years and Bills Party Store for 18 years. She also worked at Rainbow, Sip & Bite & Town Club as a waitress and Good Nature Farm Market. She ran a day care in her home and took care of many ill people, along with cleaned homes. She enjoyed garage sales, crafts, bus tours and cooking. She loved her family and all her grandchildren and all the family dinners they had together.

Cremation has taken place. Private family services will be held. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery Elk Rapids.
