Helen Milas Gundersen, age 84, of Webster, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, July 10, 2016, after a long hard battle with Alzheimer's. She is predeceased by her husband, Kare Gundersen, her parents, Nicholas and Georgia Milas, and her sister, Beatrice Wyse. She is survived by her daughters, Karen Henning (Yarko), Berit Miller, Reidun (Chuck) Caron, Ingrid (Rob) DeClerck, Siri (Ed) Seitz, Kristen (Rob) Casella; son, Tor (Dina) Gundersen; grandchildren, Danielle Clarke and Calvin Miller, Erik and Andrew Caron, Cole and Kyle DeClerck, Samantha and Brandon Seitz, Claire Gundersen, and Nicholas Casella. She was born on Sunday July 3, 1932 to Nicholas and Georgia Milas. Growing up Helen was a spirited and motivated individual who strove to accomplish anything she set her mind to. As a child, she had a passion for dancing and enrolled herself in ballet classes. In her spare time, she worked as a dog trainer and participated in show competitions for dogs. While attending Radcliff University, she met her husband, Kare Gundersen, at a sailing club. The couple had seven children throughout the years. Helen devoted her time to taking care of the children and her husband. She lived in Kalamazoo, MI from 1966 to 1975 where she attended St. Luke's Episcopal Church. She attended Nazareth College where she obtained her Bachelor's degree. Her devote spirituality led her to continue her education and obtain a degree in Divinity at Colgate Divinity School. Helen was a compassionate and understanding woman. She loved conversing with all people and faithfully volunteered at the Fairport Baptist Nursing Home and worked at the Fairport Public Library. In her spare time, she loved long walks in the gardens and the neighborhood where she greeted everyone with a friendly smile. Helen was well loved by all her family and friends. She will forever remain in our hearts and will be greatly missed. The family wishes to thank the caring and compassionate people at St. Ann's and Cherry Ridge who took such good care of Helen.
