Helen Effner

Helen E. Effner, age 90, of Bloomingdale, MI passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Meadow Woods Nursing and Rehab Center, Bloomingdale. Helen was born December 2, 1926 in Cedar Lake, IN, the daughter of Archie and Williamina Carr. Helen loved gardening, especially her glads and red raspberries. She enjoyed sewing and had worked for various neighbors over the years. Helen was a long-time member of the Townline United Methodist Church, where she had coordinated the fall harvest for many years. Surviving are her six children, Charles Effner, Sharon (Michael) Connolly, Lois (Dan) Heisey, Roger (Sue) Effner, Jon (Kris) Effner, Shirley (David) Rigozzi; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; siblings, Gene Carr, Lou Camburn, Dan Carr and Genieve Flickinger. She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Effner; a son, Raymond W. Effner; a daughter-in-law, Linda Effner; and eight siblings. The family will meet friends on Thursday from 4-7 PM at the Bloomingdale Chapel, D.L. Miller Funeral Home where funeral services will be held Friday at 11 AM, Pastor Jim Robertson officiating. Internment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Townline UMC Building Fund.
