Harry R. "Skip" Bowker, age 82, of Richland, MI died November 10, 2016. Skip was born December 31, 1933 in Charleston Township to Loyal and Cora (Machin) Bowker. He graduated from Richland High School. Skip went to work immediately in the electrical business. He became a master electrician and contractor, eventually owner and operator of Bowker & Sons Electric. Skip had many hobbies. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and anything to do with the outdoors. He was very competitive in everything he did, including bowling, snowmobile racing and skeet shooting. He was the 1963 Michigan State Skeet shooting champion. Skip is survived by his five children, Judith (Nello) Hoffman, Patricia (Mike) Coy, James (Marsha) Bowker, Steven (Colleen) Bowker and Daniel (Sandra) Bowker; 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and a brother, Thurmon (Nancy) Bowker. Skip married Janet Newby in 1954. Sadly, she preceeded him in death on February 27, 2005. Skip was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Alfred Bowker and a granddaughter, Amy Hoffman. Funeral services to celebrate Skip's life will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel, officiated by Pastor Todd Travis. Interment will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, November 14 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Those wishing to make memorial contributions in memory of Skip are asked to consider the Rose Arbor Hospice or Lending Hands of Michigan.
