Harold "Hal" Eggleston, age 88, passed away May 25, 2019 at his home in Kalamazoo. Hal was born September 7, 1930 in Elkhart, IN, the son of Joseph and Dora (Kerschner) Eggleston. During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army from 1948-51. He later worked at General Motors, Checker Motors and as an engineer for 33 years with National Water Lift, prior to his retirement. Hal was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, camping and gardening. He was also very handy in building homes and helping with repair jobs for family and friends. The most important part of Hal's life was his family. On September 20, 1952, he was united in marriage to Norma R. (Weers) Eggleston, who survives. Also surviving are their four children Mark (Cindy) Eggleston, Scott (Mary) Eggleston, Dean (Ellen) Eggleston, Lisa (Dave) Mitchell; four grandchildren Danielle (Nick) Voss, Matthew Mitchell, Adam Eggleston, Alexis Eggleston; two great-grandchildren Max and Brody; a brother Eugene Eggleston; nieces and nephews. Hal was preceded in death by his parents and by siblings Margarite, Mildred and Jim. The family will receive friends from 11:30am to 1:30pm on Thursday, May 30th at the Mausoleum Chapel at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South (3941 S. Westnedge Ave.) At 1:30pm there will be military honors rendered by the U.S. Army.
