Harlen C. Bouman age 93 of Holland went to be with his Lord Sunday, December 6, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.

Harlen (Har) grew up in Holland and graduated from Holland High School class of 1940. He was proud of his service to his country during WWII where he served as a fighter pilot in the Army Air Corps. He flew the P-47 Thunderbolt on combat missions over the Pacific Islands and Japan. Following the war Har graduated from Hope College and attended the University of Michigan Law School. He joined the Sun Oil Co. (Sunoco) and spent his career there in sales and management.

Har was an avid sportsman and loved boating, hunting and fishing with family and friends. He was a member of the Forks Club near Baldwin, formed by several Holland area families, and spent many wonderful times there. In retirement, Har and Elaine enjoyed spending time in Florida and loved entertaining their children and grandchildren.

Har was a longtime member of Beechwood Reformed Church and most recently Christ Memorial Church.

Harlen is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elaine Brower Bouman, children; Steven Ross Bouman of Holland, Robert C. Bouman and Jean Van Grouw of Holland, Barbara Jo (Paul) De Jonge of Zeeland, grandchildren; Tyson (Krista) De Jonge , Teg De Jonge, Brittany (Ryan) Garvelink, Ben Bouman, Jenna (Travis) Baldwin, Troy (Andrea) Bouman, Tarra (Luis) Gonzales, Claire Van Grouw, Erin Van Grouw and Alison Van Grouw; 4 great grandchildren; Austin, Jordan, Marcello, and Vin as well as a sister Charlotte (Lloyd) Schaap of Zeeland, sister-in-law; Lois Kessel of Holland and special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday 11:00AM at Christ Memorial Church, 595 Graafschap with Revs. Bill Boersma and Will Daniels officiating. Burial will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Friends may greet the family Wednesday 6PM to 8PM at the Northwood Chapel, Dykstra Funeral Homes, 295 Douglas Ave., Holland.
