Greta VanderRoest

Greta VanderRoest, age 90, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2016. Greta was born in Kalamazoo on August 25, 1925, the daughter of the late John and Maggie (Nederhoed) Dykehouse. She worked as a nurse's aid for Western Michigan University Health Center, where she retired. She was a member of Westwood Christian Reformed Church. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. Greta was married to Evert VanderRoest, who preceded her in death in 2002. She is survived by one daughter and two sons, JoAnn (James) Boven, Robert (Ruth Ann) VanderRoest and Ronald (Sheryl) VanderRoest; fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Tillie (Robert) Kloosterman; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. Private interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 20th at Westwood Christian Reformed Church, 620 Northampton Rd., Kalamazoo, MI 49006, with Pastor Bill Fernhout officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 10 a.m. until time of the service. Memorial contributions may be given to Rose Arbor Hospice Residence or Westwood Christian Reformed Church.
