Passed away Tuesday evening, December 26, 2017 surrounded by family. Greg was born February 27, 1948 in Kalamazoo, MI the son of the late Glenn and Ann E. (Bush) Greenman. Greg graduated from Portage Central High and attended Michigan State University. He was a firefighter with the City of Portage for 32 years and also served as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff for Kalamazoo County. Greg was a freelance photographer with the Kalamazoo Gazette. He was a member of the First Congregational Church Kalamazoo, the International Firefighter's Union, International Fire Photographers Association, Michigan Press Photographers Association, Life Member of Michigan State Alumni Association, Clowns of America Alley 44, and the list goes on. Greg was an active volunteer at the Kalamazoo Civic, where he volunteered countless hours and was awarded the "Spirit of the Civic" for the 2009 - 2010 season for his volunteer service. Greg was active in the community. Greg enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his children, Shannon (Robb) Nanninga, Gregory Greenman II, Peter Greenman; 5 grandchildren, Jacob, Gretchen, Emmalynn, Leah, and Elliott; and the mother of his children, Sharon. Greg was preceded in death by a daughter, Emily May. A memorial service to celebrate Greg's life will be held at 1:00pm, January 6 at the First Congregational Church Kalamazoo, 345 W. Michigan. Friends may meet the family from 12:00-1:00pm prior to the service at church. Private interment will be held at a later date.
