Gordon Gruppen, age 85, of Holland died Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids.

Gordon was the son of George and Mary (Borgman) Gruppen. He was a lifelong member of Graafschap Christian Reformed Church and the Men’s Society. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the US Army. Gordon was employed at Elzinga and Volkers Construction where he retired after many years. His passion was going to auctions and buying and selling. He was preceded in death by his daughter Linda Kleinheksel in 1998.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Juella and son Garry and Carla Gruppen of Bentheim; son-in-law: Ken and Nancee Kleinheksel of Hamilton; grandchildren: Lisa and Derrick Huizenga, Carla and Tim Borr, Allison, Jordan and Andrea Gruppen; great grandchildren: Ella, Mollie and Cason;; several nieces, nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Graafschap Christian Reformed Church, 5973 Church Street in Holland. Reverends Stan Scripps and Henry Vanden Heuvel will be officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Graafschap Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm, Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Graafschap Christian Reformed Church. Memorial contributions may be given to Right to Life of Michigan.
