Glen Richard Simington passed away peacefully Sunday morning, September 5, 2021. He was born July 19, 1935, in Otsego, MI a son of Harry and Hilda (Emmons) Simington. Glen graduated from Otsego High School. He entered the US Army in 1958 and was honorably discharged in 1960. He then returned to the Army Reserves, serving until his retirement after 25 years. Glen worked in paper manufacturing and plastic injection molding until his retirement. He was a member of Berean Baptist Church and remained active in various veteran organizations. Glen was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Thomas Simington, Bonnie Harper, and Joyce Stout. On April 7, 1959, he married the former Kay J. Smith, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Laurie Boven and Greg (Christine) Simington; grandchildren, Libbie Simington, Steven Simington, John Michael Boven, Shawna, Brandi, Holly, and Jeramie; eleven great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Simington; mother-in-law, Gertrude Smith; sister-in-law, Pam (George) Topoll; brother-in-law, Norm (Val) Smith; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive guests from 10am to 11am on Monday, September 13, 2021, at Berean Baptist Church, 7813 South 12th Street, Portage, MI 49024. The funeral service will begin at 11am at the church with Pastor Bill Abernathy officiating. Immediately following the service will be a time for food and fellowship in the church hall. Private interment will take place in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Berean Baptist Church or SPCA of Southwest Michigan.
