Gilbert Youngdale

Gilbert A. Youngdale, age 87, of Portage, MI passed away Monday October 10, 2016 at Borgess Medical Center. Gilbert was born January 15, 1929 in Detroit the son of Alfred and Caroline (Barron) Youngdale. He was a WW II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. Gilbert was a graduate of University of Detroit and received his PhD from Wayne State University, he retired from the Upjohn Company after 30 years and he enjoyed fishing, puzzles, going to the casino, golfing, tennis, and bowling and was a member of the Detroit Archery Club. On November 10, 1956 in Detroit Gilbert was united in marriage to the former Patricia Kuchan who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Teresa Youngdale of Portage, Joan (Frederick) Chapman of Marshall; two sons, Curt (Stacey) Youngdale of High Point, NC, Jason Youngdale of Phoenix, AZ; two grandsons, Caleb (Megan Mounsey) Chapman, Silas Chapman. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Slater; two brothers, Richard and Ralph Youngdale. Graveside services will be held 11 am Wednesday October 12, 2016 at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
