Life Story / Obituary

Gerald (Jerry) E. Robinson passed away at home on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. Born to Glen and

Elaine Robinson on July 16, 1933 in Cannon Falls, Minnesota. Jerry lived a life full of love first

and foremost, love of God, family, and friends. Jerry was known by all to be very kind, open and

generous and as a result had a large, diverse group of friends from church, work and the

community.

He graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota, where he met his future

wife, Lois, played football, and majored in business and economics. He was a preseminary

student, who became a lay pastor/pulpit supply for the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America

throughout the Midwest.

A career in Sales and Marketing at various companies brought his growing family to Iowa,

Pennsylvania, Indiana, Ohio and finally to Holland, Michigan, where he retired from Herman

Miller. He cherished the many great friends he made in each locale.

Being of Swedish heritage and growing up with many of the “old country” traditions, he and Lois

carried on their rich culture with an annual five course Christmas Eve Smorgasbord a

tradition

continued by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren today. A special highlight of his

life was a trip to Sweden to learn about and research family history.

Jerry's many talents included woodworking, art and music. He shared his lovely baritone

singing voice and provided music leadership in various parish families. He also enjoyed fishing

with his grandsons and was never one to miss a birthday party or kids’ sport event.

Jerry leaves behind the joys of his life, his wife, Lois Robinson, children, Linda and Phil Payne,

Gregg and Mary Jane Robinson, Marcia and Loren Schrotenboer, and Bill and Kate Robinson.

Grandchildren, Mike Payne, Melissa and Jake Black, Emily and Sergio Lopez, Jillayne Smith,

Issac Meel, Michael Fombang, Deng Quach, Ben and HeeSoo Schrotenboer, Andrew

Schrotenboer, Michael and Meghan Schrotenboer, Stephen Schrotenboer, Soren

HolsingerRobinson

and Shana Pitcher, and Anja HolsingerRobinson.

Great grandchildren,

Marcos and Mateo LopezRobinson,

Linnea Smith, Samuel and Isabel Schrotenboer, Charlotte

Schrotenboer, and Dom Lester. Sister, Gail Wahlgren, inlaws

Alan and Bettie Anderson and

many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Dykstra Funeral Home Northwood

Chapel on Ottawa Beach Road,

Holland, MI, on Friday evening from 57pm.
