Gerald 'Jerry' Cook

Gerald Patrick Cook, 89 of Traverse City, died Tuesday, April 12, 2016.

He was born on December 19, 1926 in St. Louis, Missouri the son of John Patrick and Mary Agnes (Olson) Cook. He formerly lived in Sparta, Michigan and McPherson, Kansas.

Jerry was an Iron Worker in Construction.

He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and was a big Detroit Tiger fan.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Virginia Lee (Anderson) Cook; they were married on February 18, 1950 in McPherson, Kansas; daughters, Connie (Tom) O'Rourke, Barb (Harry) Hinzmann, Christine (Don) Riopelle, Patricia (Mark) Flynn, Karen (Jarod) Lummen; 10 grandchildren, Meghan Remsperger, Erin O'Rourke, Matthew Hinzmann, Luke Hinzmann, Scott Riopelle, Tyler Riopelle, Lisa Brooker, Todd Flynn, Jack Flynn, Kyle Flynn; great-grandchildren; brother Ed Cook; many nieces and nephews.

He is preceeded in death by his parents; John and Mary Cook; grandson, Ryan O'Rourke and other siblings.

A celebration of his life will be held 1pm, Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Life Story Funeral Home, Traverse City. An informal gathering will follow from 1:45pm to 3pm.
