George Tyler Piper, age 93, of Scotts, MI passed away Monday, December 18, 2017 at the VA Medical Center Battle Creek, MI. Mr. Piper was born August 12, 1924 in Scotts, MI, to the late Harland and Lula (Tyler) Piper. He served two tours in the US Army from Jan. 28, 1949, to Feb. 23, 1950 in Japan as a peace keeper and from Oct. 9, 1950 to Sept. 21, 1951 in the Korean War. He was a dairy farmer in Scotts his entire life until he retired in 1994. Also surviving are three siblings, Garth Piper of Galesburg, Ione Coburn of Kalamazoo, and Philip Marilyn (Pete) Oswalt of Fulton. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Corinne Esther Piper in 1997. They were joined in marriage Sept. 20 1958. Also surviving are three sons, John (Brenda) Jones of Climax, Robert (Sandy) Jones of Vicksburg, and Thomas (Tetyana) Jones of Scotts; 7 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. Memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday Jan. 2, 2017 at: Fort Custer National Cemetery 15501 Dickman Road Augusta, MI 49012 Interment of cremains will be at the Harrison Cemetery for family. Family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Scotts Community Center for a Luncheon at 8450 36th St. S., Scotts, MI 49088.
