Novitsky, George S. of Kalamazoo George passed away on Tuesday afternoon, November 1, 2016 at Borgess Medical Center. He was born on April 24, 1937 in United, PA, the son of the late George P. and Susan A. (Adamik) Novitsky. George was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1955-1958. He was employed by General Motors (Fisher Body) for over 33 years until his retirement. George was a member of the Kalamazoo UAW Local 1666 and Kalamazoo Rod and Gun Club and life member of the National Rifle Association. He was also an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and gardening. Growing up in southwest Pennsylvania, George was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Surviving are his four children: Josey (Ray) Campbell, Susan (Scot) Moore, John Novitsky and Andy (Tammy) Novitsky; eleven grandchildren: Matthew (Erika) Thomas, Michael (Justine Gregory) Thomas, Mitchel (Bree Imerzel) Thomas, Abigail Moore, Emily Moore, Elizabeth (Thomas) Johns, Andrew (Tori Eshbaugh) Novitsky, Ashley (Rodney) Alfieri, Cody Shimel, Josh (Skye Hobson) Skinner and Jamie (Ray) Lockmiller; nineteen great-grandchildren; sister: Bernadine Mizikar; two brothers: Joseph Novitsky and Larry (Lynn) Novitsky; former spouse: Barbara (Roger) Wedig; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2-5 PM on Sunday, Nov. 6, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, Nov. 7, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1150 W. Centre Avenue. Interment with military honors will follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to West Michigan Cancer Center or St. Catherine Parish.
