Leonard, George "Bud" Delton George "Bud" Leonard age 92, passed away March 8, 2018 at Stoneridge Adult Foster Care in Bellevue where he resided since October 2017. Bud was born August 22, 1925, in Delton; the son of George and Fay (Reynolds) Leonard. A member of the Boy Scouts and 4-H, Bud saw Delton as a great place for youth with hunting, fishing, skating, and swimming opportunities and saw the school as a place that brought the community together. Bud took a course in radio electronics at State Technical Institute at Pine Lake that offered various vocational training programs to the public. This was followed by a job opportunity at a radio station in Kalamazoo. Bud also worked as a director, lineman and installer at the Barry County Telephone Company, and a loyal employee of General Foods until his retirement. His community involvement continued as a longtime member of the volunteer fire department, Bernard Historical Society, past Master of the Hickory Corners Masonic Lodge #345, a volunteer at the Kellogg Biological Center, and Hope Township clerk and trustee for many years. He enjoyed history, family ancestry and genealogy, Ham Radio, and flying his airplane. Bud and his wife, Doris (Beavan) Leonard who passed away in 2006, greatly impacted the Delton community through their generosity and they were chosen as Grand Marshals of the Delton Founder's Festival as a tribute to their dedicated and loyal community service. Bud will be greatly missed by many cousins, friends from around the world, and caregivers: Joe and Sandy Barker. Bud lived eighty-two years on the family farm at Wall Lake, a place he truly loved. Bud's family will receive friends, Tuesday, March 13, 2018, 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the Williams-Gores Funeral Home where his Masonic funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM. Burial will take place in East Hickory Corners Cemetery. Memorial contributions to: Bernard Historical Society, will be appreciated.
