Genevieve Budzynski

Genevieve Budzynski of Kalamazoo, MI, Age 95, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Genevieve was born in New York, New York on January 2, 1922; the daughter of the late John and Stella (Laza) Lagiewski. Following high school graduation, she worked as a gun sight inspector for WWII. Genevieve was an excellent seamstress and studied dress design. On January 8, 1944, she married Henry A. Budzynski, Sr., who preceded her in death on February 26, 2013. They raised their family on Long Island and moved to Michigan in 1986 to be closer to their children. She was a long-time member of Westwood United Methodist Church and was an avid reader and gardener. Genevieve was also preceded in death by a brother, Stanley (Irene) Lagiewski. She is survived by her children, Valerie (Steven) Brown and Henry, Jr. (Rosemary) Budzynski; grandchildren, Rebecca (Matthew) Bollinger, Rachel (Gonzalo Vinales) Brown and Lyuba Budzynski and great-grandchildren, Selah and Lincoln Bollinger and Sean Corrum. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Westwood United Methodist Church, 538 Nichols Rd., Kalamazoo, MI 49006. The Rev. Dr. Wayne Price will officiate. A time of visitation will take place at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
