Gayl Sims

Gayl L. Sims, age 79, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away Sunday afternoon, January 31, 2016 at the Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. Gayl was born August 24, 1936 in Kalamazoo the daughter of Michael and Alice (Brouwer) Hoover. Prior to her retirement she was employed for several years with the Checker Motor Company and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. In 1992, she was united in marriage to Leslie "Les" Sims who survives. Also surviving are her daughters, Kathy (Larry) Shoemaker, Linda (Jed) McCrumb; 4 grandchildren, Todd, Kelli, Kyle, and Nathan; a great-grandchild, Brielle; a sister, Linda (Fred) Willis; and a niece, 3 nephews and their families; and special cousin, John (Judy) Brouwer. Gayl was preceded in death by a grandson, Robert. Services will be held at 11:00am Thursday, February 4 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre. Interment will follow in Vicksburg Cemetery. Friends may meet the family from 10-11:00am prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to the Rose Arbor Hospice Residence.
