Frederick Haddix, Jr.

Haddix, Frederick W. Jr. Plainwell, MI Fred passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born November 26, 1940 in Grand Haven the son of Frederick and Jesse (More) Haddix. Fred proudly served his country in the US Air Force. For over 30 years he had worked for MDOT until his retirement in 2000. Fred enjoyed fishing and deep frying pan fish, hunting, golfing and following NASCAR especially Dale Earnhardt Sr. On July 3, 1981 in Kalamazoo he married June Cary who survives. Also surviving are his children, Joe (Glenda) Haddix of Otsego, Chris (Doug) Stone of Otsego, Jody (Allison) Haddix of Plainwell, Derek (Darlene) Cobble of Otsego and Brett (Chrissy) Cobble of Plainwell; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and sisters, Jan Addis and Maxine Nichols. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Jaryd Ford. According to his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego with Celebrant Bill Rose officiating. Military Honors by VFW Post #3030. A private family burial of ashes will be held at Mountain Home Cemetery at a later time. Contributions in memory of Fred may be made to the Jaryd Ford Scholarship Fund at Martin Schools.
