Passed away peacefully at home in Kalamazoo, MI. Frank, as most people knew him, was born in Kalamazoo, MI to Glenn and Marguerite Barrett. He was the first of five children. He grew up in Kalamazoo, where he attended Barbour Hall and then graduated from Western Michigan University. He was a beautician and instructor by trade, having taught many generations of students the art of beauty. On August 8th, 1953 he would marry the love of his life Jeanne Anne (Vogt) Barrett and they would go on to have eleven children, including three sets of twins. Frank was dedicated to his Catholic faith and a long-time member of St. Joseph Parish in Kalamazoo. He was an active member for many years with the Eastside Neighborhood Association. He received many awards and recognitions for his dedication to Cosmetology and instruction. His most prized accomplishment, however, was his family. Frank took great pride in seeing the growth of his children. He was the Patriarch to what has grown into a family of 129 Barrett's strong and growing. He will be missed by so many. Frank is survived by: Catherine (Russ) Richards, Judith Hernandez, Molly (Gary) NeSmith, Frances (Dave) Dame, Martha (Jack) Connor, Jane (Warren) Grau, Suzanne (Barry) NeSmith, Stephen (Paula) Barrett, John (Jackie) Barrett, James (Marsha) Barrett, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. He is also survived by his brother David (Lynne) Barrett. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jeanne, siblings Anne Lucas, Rose Morrett, and Charles Barrett, son Paul Barrett, grandson Robert Barrett, and great-grandson Gregory NeSmith. A Catholic Mass in celebration of Frank's life will take place on April 12th, 2018 at St. Joseph Church, 936 Lake St. at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank's memory to Hartland Hospice (8075 Creekside Dr. #120 Portage, MI 49024) or SPCA of Kalamazoo (6955 W. KL Ave. Kalamazoo, MI 49009).
