Age 77 of Portage, MI, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI following a brief illness. She was born on November 18, 1940 in Sturgis, MI to Richard and Lois (Holtz) Eagan, and graduated from Sturgis High School in 1958. A lifelong resident of southwest Michigan, Fran married the love of her life, Edwin Morseau, on February 13, 1960 in Goshen, Indiana. She was happily and lovingly married to Ed until his death in October of 2016. Fran and Ed raised their family in Portage, becoming involved in a local bowling league and serving as a volunteer for her church's annual rummage sale and Clothes Closet. Following a career as a stay-at-home mother, she worked at the Sugar Plum hobby and craft store in Portage and the Creative Arts Gallery in Vicksburg both of which allowed her an outlet to express her creative ingenuity. Fran enjoyed sewing, crocheting, interior decorating, furniture recovering, and a variety of other crafts and arts. She was an especially talented counted cross stitch designer and painter, although she remained very humble about her many talents. Fran was also an avid reader and enjoyed playing Scrabble and Words With Friends especially when she won. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her three daughters: Mindy, Michelle, and Melissa (Ron); her brothers: Patrick (Teri) and Dennis (Janet); her five grandchildren: Trent, Branden, Katie, Shianne, and Amy; her great-grandson Aiden; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother David, and her son-in-law Zane. A funeral mass and celebration of life will take place on Friday, June 1st at 12:00 pm at the St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 5855 E W Ave. in Vicksburg, MI. A private service will also take place to inter Fran's ashes at the Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery in Dowagiac, MI. The Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-2331 is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Fran's family suggests that in lieu of flowers, those wishing to pay their respects should make a donation to the American Cancer Society in her name.
