Surrounded by his family, Everett Lee Kuiper, age 77, passed away Friday, January 15, 2016 at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. He was born in Racine, April 22, 1938, son of the late William and Ann (Nee: Soetenga) Kuiper.

Everett graduated from Racine Lutheran High School “Class of 1956”. He attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI and received his BA and Masters in Piano from the Chicago Conservatory College. He was quoted as saying “Music has been my life direction”. He had served as church organist at Gethsemane Lutheran Church for a number of years moving to Olympia Brown Unitarian Universalist Church where he played for 40 years retiring in 2014. For years Everett taught private lessons in organ and piano. He was well known as an accompanist for local theater productions as well as school solo and ensemble contests. When he was not involved making music he treasured spending time tending to his garden. He will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his siblings, Clarence (Nancy) Kuiper of Racine, Jan (Edwin) Dykstra of Chicago, Carol (Arthur) Schaafsma of Wyoming, MI, Charlene (John) Eisel of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Evelyn Kuiper.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, January 19, 2016, 11:00 A.M. at Olympia Brown Unitarian Universalist Church, 625 College Ave, with Rev. Dr. Tony Larson officiating. Relatives and friends may meet Tuesday at the church 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. Memorials to Little People of America, the American Diabetes Assn, or Olympia Brown Unitarian Universalist Church have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Mark DeCheck for his many years of compassionate care.
