Evelyn Maurer

Evelyn Pryweller Maurer of Kalamazoo, MI passed away Friday, April 28, 2017, at the age of 84. Evelyn was born September 19, 1932, in Elkhart, IN to the late Joseph and Ida (Zimmerman) Estes. She was united in marriage to Gerald Pryweller, who predeceased her in 1993. She was later married to Richard Maurer, who predeceased her in 1999. Evelyn was a member of Temple Beth Israel in Longboat Key, FL. Among several of her interests, she was a master bridge player, acted in community theater, played tennis and was a leader in Hadassah. She was a pioneering businesswoman who was a successful real estate agent for close to 30 years and was a gourmet cook. She was an active member of Congregation of Moses synagogue in Kalamazoo. Evelyn is survived by her son, Joseph (Diane) Pryweller and their daughter, Hannah; her daughter, Gwen Pryweller (Benji) Wolken and their sons, Joshua, Adam and Jordan. Evelyn was preceded in death by her sister, Lillian Altman. A graveside service will take place Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at the Jewish Riverside Cemetery in Kalamazoo.
