Evelyn M. Gayhart

Evelyn M. Gayhart, age 92, passed away Monday, August 7, 2017 at St. Monica’s Senior Center. She was born in Racine, December 4, 1924, daughter of the late Andrew and Sophia (Nee: Jacobson) Peterson.

On December 4, 1943, she was united in marriage to Rolly B. Gayhart and they moved to Racine County in 1945. Rolly passed away July 9, 2010. Together they owned and operated Gayhart TV and Appliance on Lathrop Ave for 34 years. Evelyn was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church and P.E.O. She enjoyed playing Bridge, reading, baking and cooking. Above all she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her 4 children, Gary (Janis) Gayhart of Racine, Ronald “Bud” (Glenda) Gayhart of Racine, Keith (Lindi) Gayhart of Los Angeles, CA, Terri Lynn Gayhart of Odessa, TX; 8 grandchildren, Deborah Krimmer, Jeanette (Mike) Krimmer, Leslie (Tim) Thillemann, Steve Gayhart, Layni Gayhart (Chris Grefe), Travis (Kimber) Padgett, Dashiell Gayhart, Tess Gayhart; 6 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Charles, Lillian, Bertha, Harold, and Dorothy.

Private services were held followed by entombment at West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials to Hospice Alliance or St. Monica’s Senior Center have been suggested.
