Evelyn Irene Hough, 88, of Allegan left this earth to be with her Heavenly Father on February 12, 2019. She was born in Clair, Michigan on July 5, 1930. Evelyn enjoyed her long life as an Allegan County resident where she was raised by her parents, Stanley and Mildred Findley. A graduate of Allegan High School in 1949, Evelyn was involved in chorus, yearbook and the Girls Athletic Association. It was at Allegan High School where she met her husband of 64 years, Hollis Hough. Evelyn served faithfully at First Baptist Church of Allegan as a Sunday School teacher for many years and was active in the church's music program singing in a ladies trio with life long friends Mary Heckman and Ina Skogland. She also served as an Awana club leader and tutored children through Kids Hope. Evelyn loved being outdoors and was often found tending to her gardens or reading on her swing. Evelyn is survived by sons Scott (Linda) of Fairfax Station, VA, and Steve of Allegan; eight grandchildren, Nathaniel (Allison), Bryson (Kerri), Moriah, Wyatt and Shannah, Alexander (Macayla), Jesse and Leon; two great grandchildren Ezra and Adaline; as well as many nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her husband, Hollis Hough. Evelyn will be remembered as an energetic and loyal wife, mother and grandmother who served her family well and played a large role in keeping up the family farm. A special thank you to many friends from First Baptist Church and to the Allegan County Medical Care Community staff for their loving care and support during the final years of her life. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 17, 2019 from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Allegan. A Celebration of Life service will follow with Pastor Nathan Smith officiating. Evelyn will be laid to rest at Hudson Corners Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 1290 32nd St. (M-40 South), Allegan, MI 49010.
