Evelyn Holder

Evelyn L. Holder, age 92, long time resident of Kalamazoo, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2016. The daughter of Hale & Lena (Kitsmiller) Whisler, she was born on July 17, 1924 in Allegan. After graduating from Paw Paw High School, Evelyn married her "sailor boy" Frank Holder on January 19, 1946. A devoted wife and mother Evelyn enjoyed family gatherings, photography, crafts (especially sewing), and serving for Kalamazoo Senior Service for over 25 years. Later in life one of her greatest joys was wintering in Arizona with her husband. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Frank in 1997; parents; sisters, Edith Whisler, and Avis Fooy; Surviving are her daughter, Jacqueline (Scott) Halladay; sisters, Thelma Bredeweg, Donna Fooy, and Lois (Chuck) Craddock; brother, Hale (Gloria) Whisler; along with many nieces and nephews. Family will be having a private memorial service at a later date with interment at Oakgrove Cemetery, in Lawton. The family would like to thank Gentiva/Kindred Hospice for their caring support.
