Evelyn M. Falan, age 98, of Paw Paw, MI passed away Monday afternoon, July 25, 2016 at White Oaks in Lawton. Evelyn was born June 29, 1918 in Cadillac the daughter of the late Arthur and Nettie (Racey) Harvey. She was a graduate of Cadillac High School Class of 1936. On November 23, 1942 in East Bakersfield, CA she was united in marriage to Wayne A. Falan who was serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. After stops in Reed City and Plymouth, Evelyn and Wayne moved to Paw Paw in 1949 where he continued his teaching and coaching career and Evelyn became the second "mom" of High school athletes. Evelyn helped mark the track for meets, doing loads of laundry of team uniforms, and with the aid of her sewing circle repaired countless pants and jerseys. She was a devoted member of the Paw Paw United Methodist Church serving as secretary, treasurer and helping with many church projects. Evelyn was a member of the Mary Smith Circle of the church, Faculty Wives Club, Sewing Circle and Bridge Club. She was a volunteer for the Van Buren County Red Cross. She was famous for never forgetting a birthday by sending out cards to all she knew. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne on October 13, 2005. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Howard, Roy, Chester and Cliff Harvey and a sister, Erma Royce. Surviving are two sons, Douglas (Adelle) Falan of Manistee, and Tom Falan of Paw Paw; grandchildren, Stephanie (Chris) Parmele and Scott (Jenna) Pugh; great grandchildren, Morgan, Ella and Caleb Parmele, and Brynn Pugh; many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Thursday evening (July 28) 6 to 8 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home Paw Paw. A memorial service will be held Friday, 11 a.m. at the Paw Paw United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. David Small and Rev. Carolyn Spragg officiating. She will be laid to rest at Fort Custer National Cemetery Augusta, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Paw Paw Alumni Corporation or the Kalamazoo Red Cross.
