Eric Ward Lyons

Eric Lyons, 62, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2019. Eric proudly graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelors of Landscape Architecture (BLA). He had a passion for helping others and for the arts. Eric expressed these passions through his work as a professional landscape architect designing public spaces including parks, streetscapes, riverfronts and playgrounds. Outside of work, he volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, the Grand Rapids Kids Food Basket, and offered arts and crafts activities for children in the migrant farmworking community. He also spent many hours at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts (KIA) creating positive and uplifting sculptures from ceramics and welded metal. He is survived by his wife, Margaret, two sons, Michael (Genevieve) and Kevin (Heather), granddaughter Cora, and his brother, Mark (Cindy). Eric is also survived by many beloved sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews. A funeral mass took place on Saturday, September 7, 2019, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Grand Rapids, MI.
