Elton Thomas Krogel, age 87, of Indianapolis, IN passed away Monday night, Sept. 18, 2017, in Indianapolis. Born on Mar. 27, 1930, in Kalamazoo, Elton graduated from Bloomingdale High School in 1947 and from Western Michigan University in 1951 with a B.S. degree in paper chemistry. After working many years in Rhinelander, Wis., Elton returned to Kalamazoo in 1982, working for Durametallic Corp, which became Flowserve, until his retirement in 1995. Elton is preceded in death by his parents, August (Gus) W. Krogel and Alice Shugars Dean, by his brother, Allen (Bud) Krogel, and by his sweetheart and dear wife, Marvel Anna Martin Krogel (who he married on Sept 3, 1950, in Bloomingdale, MI). He is survived by his children, Tom (Leslie) Krogel of Seattle, Greg (Randie) Krogel of Houston, and Beth (Jon) Heline of Indianapolis, as well as six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and cousins. Elton joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1962 with his family, and they were sealed as an eternal family in the St. George, Utah temple on June 26, 1964. Elton and his family believe in the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the power of the resurrection, and that families can be together forever. The funeral service will be on Saturday, September 23 at the D.L. Miller Funeral Home, 203 E. Spring St., Bloomingdale, MI, www.dlmillerfuneralhome.com, with visitation at 2:00 p.m. and a graveside service at 3:30 p.m. at the Spring Grove Cemetery in Bloomingdale.
