Elizabeth "Betty" Strong, age 92, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away Tuesday May 24, 2016 at Grace Valley Assisted Living. Betty was born October 2, 1923 in Kalamazoo the daughter of Lawrence & Lelah (White) Nuyen. She was preceded in death by her husband Merl Strong in 1986 whom she married in 1945. Also preceding in death were her son, James Strong in 2005. Betty is survived by her children: daughters, Elaine (Richard) LaPorte of Kalamazoo; Iris Buist of Kalamazoo. daughter In- Law Patti Strong. sisters, Mary Lou Pearson; Yvonne (Stanley) Veldt. sister In-Law, Faye Nuyen. brother In-Law, Donald VanderKlok. 14 grandchildren & 14 great-grandchildren. Preceded, two sisters; two brothers & one sister in-law. Friends will be received Saturday May 28, 2016 at 9:30am - 11:15am service following. Parchment Redmond Funeral Home. Interment will be in Harrison Cemetery in Prairie Ronde Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Valley Assisted Living in Kalamazoo Township.
