Elaine Chew

Elaine M. Chew, age 82, of Holland, MI passed away on October 11, 2016. Elaine was born in Kalamazoo, MI, October 7, 1934, to Roger and Ilah (Covell) Hayward, of Vicksburg, MI. She dedicated her life to her family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Jerry; her children, Scott and Sandy Chew of Bangor, MI, Jeff and Chong Chew of Dallas, TX, and Lisa (Chew) Wainwright of New Lenox, IL; 5 grandchildren, Rayford, Dallas, Daniel, James, and Iris; and her two living sisters, Sharon (Hayward) Harding and Ann Hayward. Elaine had two careers in health care; first, after graduating from Michigan State University as a medical technologist, and then graduating from Western Michigan University as a Physician's Assistant. Jerry and Elaine loved to travel and play golf. Throughout the years, they lived in Kalamazoo, Gull Lake, several homes along the shoreline of Lake Michigan, Chicago, Arizona, and Heidelberg, Germany. Elaine and Jerry are members of Community Church of Douglas. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, December 3, 2016, at Community Church of Douglas, 6780 Wiley Road, Douglas, MI 49406, with a reception following.
