Eileen E. Hayek, 87, of Racine, went to her heavenly home Thursday, March 1 at Ridgewood Care Center. She was born on April 4, 1930 to Tobias and Harriet (Fischer)Hayek.

She graduated from Horlick High School on June 11, 1948. Eileen worked for Hamilton Beach after graduation. On May 30, 1954 she proudly graduated from Alverno College with a Bachelor of Music, majoring in Piano and minoring in Theory. From there she went on to instill her love of music (and English) to the students she taught at Divine Savior high school, Case High school, and Gifford and McKinley middle schools. She loved to play the piano for their recitals and music performances. She retired in 1990, but continued to spread her love of music playing piano and singing at area nursing homes.

Eileen’s great loves were playing her ebony grand piano, traveling, gardening, camping and spending most weekends at Lake Lenwood relaxing with family and friends. She always loved a good card game. She lived for her poodle Pepper and for her grand nieces and nephews.

,

Eileen is held in the loving memory of her brother Edward Hayek and sister Joyce (Mike) Goulais; nieces and nephews Katherine (Wayne) Friend, Tina (Bill) Zach, Paul Hayek, Mark (Sue) Goulais, Matt (Mary) Goulais; and many very special grand nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister-in-law Donna Hayek, and nephews Michael and John Hayek; and her beloved dog Pepper.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s by the Lake Catholic Church, 7605 Lakeshore Dr, on Monday March 12, 2018, 12:00 p.m. noon, with Rev. Stephen J. Stradinger officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 12:00 p.m. noon.
