Earl F. Lakvold, age 83, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center. Earl was born in Ironwood, Michigan, November 8, 1932 son of the late Martin and Edla (Nee: Saari) Lakvold.

Earl proudly served his country in the United States Army. On April 21, 1956 in Racine he was united in marriage to Carolyn J. Kreis who preceded him in death, May 8, 2002. Earl was employed at Belle City/Racine Steel Castings for twenty years, lastly at J.I. Case for twenty-five years until his retirement. An avid sportsman Earl enjoyed baseball, basketball, football, and was a huge Michigan fan. In his earlier years he was a scout leader and coached for the Old Timers League. Earl’s greatest joys came from the many adventures, travels, and time spent with his grandchildren. Above all he was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

He will be greatly missed by his children, Larry E. Lakvold, Karen J. (David) Hegeman, all of Racine; his grandchildren, Amanda (Nick) Pilger and Andrew Hegeman (Jody Koch); sisters, Anna DeRosier, Esther Hamill; brother, Howard Lakvold; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Roger (Sandy) Kreis, Gary (Chris) Kreis, Janelle (Randy) Kreis; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his son, Gary L. Lakvold; daughter, Debbie A. Wilson; and seven siblings.

A time of remembrance will be held Saturday, December 12, 2015, 2:30 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Private interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32 with Full Military Honors will be held at a later date.
