Dwight (Whitey) Shoemaker

Dwight passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018 in Tavares, Fl. Born in Kalamazoo, Mi to the late Morse A. & Ruth G. (VanBruggen) Shoemaker. He graduated from Richland High School. He worked as a Kalamazoo Police Officer. He transferred to the Fire Department serving mainly at the North Rose station. He enjoyed car races, his favorite being the Daytona 500 races week. Whitey enjoyed people. He is survived by his sister Janice from Sebring, FL and Aunt Casey VanBruggen of Portage and many cousins in Michigan. The family thanks a special friend and care taker Jeanette Watson, who cared for him (and his 4 legged friend, Nana) It was Whitey's choice to be cremated with no funeral service and his ashes to be spread in the Golf of Mexico.
