Duane Norman Diedrich

Died Thursday, October 25, 2018. Dr. Diedrich was born in Anderson, Indiana, January 3, 1935, the son of E.L. "Bud" and Blandina Diedrich. He was educated in the public schools of Anderson, Muncie, and Kalamazoo, Michigan. Dr. Diedrich earned his A.B., M.A. and Ph.D. at the University of Michigan. Dr. Diedrich was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS). He served as an officer, lector and elder in congregations. He was a director of the General Douglas MacArthur Foundation and a member and former chairman of the University of Michigan's Clements Library Associates and Board of Governors. His extensive collection of Americana has been donated to the University of Michigan's William L. Clements Library of American History. Professor Diedrich is survived by inspiriting friends and several thousand former students. Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 4, 2018, at Christ Lutheran Church, 2751 North Scatterfield Road, Anderson. Entombment will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, in the mausoleum of Elm Ridge Memorial Park, Muncie. There will be no calling hours. Omissions of flowers and memorials has been requested.
